Classic X-Men #35-40

Reminder: The Classic X-Men backup stories were written roughly 10 years after the original stories, though take place during this time period. This means they will sometimes use characters, or set up storylines that will not take place until much later.

Classic X-Men #35, Kitty Pryde Forgets To Say No To Drugs: This takes place during the time period in Uncanny #129 where the X-Men have been attacked and she escaped, she gets vaguely knocked out and has weird ass dreams, before waking up and sneaking into the Hellfire Club's vehicle.

Classic X-Men #36, Surely Regrowing My Son Can't Go Wrong: Sean is trying to help Moira through the whole death of her son thing, but she is being very withdrawn and difficult (understandably). That said she is trying to regrow Proteus in a vat (not as understandable). She realizes she is wrong when Sean confronts her, and destroys the regrowing Proteus.

Classic X-Men #37, Dazzler Gets Deep, Man: Dazzler leaves a gig to run to an all night diner to bullshit about you know, deep topics, with a bunch of friends. Lots of pop culture and current times references galore.

Classic X-Men #38, Elevator Attendant Creepy with Dazzler: Dazzler gets creeped on by an elevator attendant, she freaks out for legit reasons and strobe lights him. He freaks out because apparently he is an aspiring horror movie director and was just doing it to get inspiration. What a jackass.

Classic X-Men #39, Storm vs Unhinged Stalker: Storm uncharacteristically acts like a jackass to a dude in NYC who was trying to talk to her. Turns out he was a mutant and he attacks the school. In the end Storm learns a very important lesson and convinces them not to hurt him.

Classic X-Men #40, The One Legged Breakdancing Mutant: Nightcrawler is responding to a Cerebro detection in NYC and it points to a one legged girl breakdancing. There is a lot of interpersonal interaction, and then she declines joining cause she has her own found family with some street kids.

X-Tra Notes: None of these are really "required reading" in my eyes. The first Dazzler one is fine, the second one is just bad. #36 is probably the best of them, I do like the light exploration of Moira's guilt and regret that isn't touched on much in the main book.
