Wolverine, pacing outside because "why am I feeling nervous about going to a party at some lady's house" and being kind of creepy about his attraction to Jean, spots Iron Fist go in through the balcony. He of course overreacts, jumps into the apartment and attacks the "intruder".
Kurt and Piotr are coming down the street when they see Wolverine fly out the window. Now all three of them are fighting Iron Fist. Storm comes in through the balcony, and is hit with a flying bowl of Potato Salad. This of course, leads to her fighting Iron Fist as well. Banshee arrives with Moira, to lightning bolts flying, realizes "Storm must be in trouble" and flies up and starts fighting as well. Finally, they subdue Iron Fist and just as it looks like the end for him...
Jean Grey and Scott arrive and Jean Grey Phoenixes up to stop the fight. Explanations are made...
...and everyone bands together to get the party back on track. Unfortunately, the landlord is trying to evict Jean for the damage caused by this and the earlier attack of Firelord. But Iron Fist in his civilian identity as Danny Rand hears that the owner of the building is Rand-Meachum... meaning he owns the building, and ensures Jean he'll get it all straightened out, no worries.
X-Tra Notes: This was the last issue of the initial run of Iron Fist, which was also written by Claremont. I get the impression he was trying to get people to follow over to the X-Men series by including them in such a ridiculous final issue. That said, I absolutely love this one. It is so sitcom level dumb comedy of errors, but I found myself smiling the whole way through. Also, Iron Fist notices some similarities between Wolverine and Sabretooth here, so maybe even though they didn't crossover until nearly 10 years later, Claremont had intended the connection all the way back here.
Okay, but what the actual fuck is that costume Wolvie is wearing?
ReplyDeleteIt's actually not his, he stole it from a Shi'ar Imperial Guardsman named Fang because his own costume had been obliterated. At this point he just hadn't replaced it.
