Then we just have the rest of the crew breaking out of a tunnel that Cyclops hastily lead the team in making, using Storm's powers to cool off the lava behind them, and his and Banshee's to dig through the solid rock. He had noticed something important about the location form the computers in the base: They are right near the Savage Land.
They break out into the prehistoric world, and do a bit of dino fighting, then find a village to take a quick break in as they try to deal with the deaths of Beast and Phoenix (who from their perspectives, also didn't make it). As they are resting, a long forgotten villain absorbs some energy from Storm and becomes: SAURON.

As they are resting, a long forgotten villain absorbs some energy from Storm and becomes: SAURON.
They fight him for a bit, but then he drains back of energy and turns back into Lykos and apologizes. It turns out he and Ka-Zar are teaming up to fight an evil dude named Garokk, the Petrified Man, some kind of ancient god dude brought to life inside a random guy who is draining the energy that makes the Savage Land warm.
On their attack, Cyclops, Colossus, Banshee, and Ka-Zar are captured, and the rest of the team sneaks in to save them. They do, and in the ensuing fight, Cyclops and Garokk get into a "whose eyebeams are best" duel which collapses the citadel. Banshee saves Cyclops, Storm tries to save Garokk, but fails.
They take a boat out of the Savage Lands and into open waters, but find themselves in a huge storm!
X-Tra: A pretty good quick story to go in the middle of things, and a good way to maintain the whole "they can't tell people they are alive" as they are stuck in a place with zero communication. Also, as the post title says: This is the first time we actually have reference to Wolverine's healing factor. Only like, 20 something comics after his introduction. Additionally, 114 is the first comic that adds "The Uncanny" above the title logo on the cover.
