Uncanny X-Men 120-121: Hudson Is Still An Ass

While on their flight home from Japan, the X-Men are forced to ground by a weird, unnatural snowstorm that even Storm cannot control. They land and are set upon by... Alpha Flight, led by James "Ass" Hudson. The Canadian government still refuses to let go of Wolverine, and they are going to make enemies of god damn everyone to get him.

The two teams fight, the normal "Hero vs Hero" type deal, with all the collateral damage conveniently pointed out to have been "empty buildings" and such so that no one died. But it turns out the snowstorm called up by Shaman has gotten out of his control. Because of course it has.

Storm risks herself to calm it down, and we think we are going to get a "OK, let's just go our separate ways we screwed up and you saved us" moment, but no, they still try to take Wolverine. Wolvie surrenders and tells all the rest of them to go home.

On the plane back, Scott turns around and tells them all that he wants to go back for Wolverine and fuck this shit. They all agree. But when he goes up to the cockpit it turns out Logan had already escaped and was just sitting up there chilling.

X-Tra Notes: Byrne apparently had a good bit to do with this storyline (as he had started helping with the writing back during the last Savage Lands arc), and had created Alpha Flight for it as a one off thing, but then Marvel ends up getting him to make the Alpha Flight comic later (which apparently he didn't even like much). Also, Misty Knight and Colleen Wing fly back with them. And Scott and Colleen are clearly getting close with him believing Jean is dead, and yet Misty still doesn't mention that, hey, my roommate is alive guys. From a letter page later, it turns out that Claremont had just straight up forgotten he had written the scene from the airport with Misty seeing Jean.
