Uncanny X-Men #53: Bobby vs the 19th Amendment

And now we have a quick one off before we get another multi-parter. In this one, the X-Men are experimenting with a machine that could convert her thoughts into radio waves that would be able to explore the galaxy. A mistake in it's operation attracts the powerful Negative Zone Fantastic Four villain Blastaar who has been banished to be unable to affect the prime universe by someone on Earth (I'm assuming Reed, sounds like something he would do). The machine lets him piggyback in and appear in the X-Mansion and attack.

There are several scuffles as he pronounces his superiority over everyone and everything, and eventually, Jean makes a plan in which Iceman makes a bunch of ice mannequins, which she manipulates with her powers to move him back towards the machines. He blows them up, but the water gets into the machine, short circuits, and it causes him to comic book die as he was connected to the molecules it had created.

X-tra Notes: No real continuity or interesting thing to talk about here. I enjoyed Blastaar and Beast interacting as they both pontificate profusely. Also, this comic has probably the most egregious "sign of the times" line in the entire comic so far.

Bad, Bobby, Bad. Don't make me get the rolled up newspaper.
