Marvel Fanfare #1-4: When A Problem Comes Along

Note: Marvel Fanfare was anthology book, we're only going to look at the A-stories here as they are the only X-Men related ones.

Tanya Anderssen (the lady who was in love with Lykos waaaaay back in Uncanny issue #60) apparently saw Lykos in a picture with Ka-Zar over in the Savage Land. She goes to Angel to convince him to help her find him. J. Jonah Jameson convinces Peter Parker to go along with money (reluctantly, both Peter on going, and Jameson on giving him money).

They head to the Savage Land only to be attacked. Angel and Peter are captured by Brainchild and the Savage Land Mutates, Tanya gets separated when Peter pushes her into a river to get her away from the people attacking them.

Anyway, Brainchild is going to use a devo ray on them to devolve them to their primordial beginnings. Tanya is rescued by Ka-Zar and she reunites with Lykos. They are then attacked by Bird-Angel and Spider-Spider-Man who have been devolved into "lesser" animal like things. They kidnap Tanya, and Brainchild turns her into a Neanderthal.

Ka-Zar and Lykos come to the rescue, but the machine is unfortunately destroyed. Lykos has to use his powers to absorb the devo energy to change them back... which turns him back into Sauron.

Angel and Peter return home. Tanya stays to try to find a way to save Lykos. Angel comes back with Storm, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Colossus to fight the combined powers of Sauron, Zaladane, and the Savage Lands Mutates.

There is some more capturing, some more devoing, some more fighting, and in the end, the X-Men + Ka-Zar manage to set everything right. And then Lykos and Tanya go to Xavier, where Xavier manages to cure him of Sauron ...for now.

X-Tra Notes: Pretty good read. Didn't feel "important" but it also was just an enjoyable little jaunt to the Savage Lands. Also, my favorite thing about every trip to the Savage Lands is Zabu.
