New Mutants #3: Xavier Is A Dick And It Surprisingly Isn't His Fault

Dani is having creepy dreams of the bear that killed her parents (more on that bear in later issues), and wakes everyone up. Xavier determines that all is fine and that she should go back to sleep.

But Dani gets up in the middle of the night and pulls out her knife, that still has blood from when she stabbed the bear in her dream. Wait a minute. He then hears Xavier on the phone with Moira telling her that Dani is mentally ill and he might have to send her away.

Dani talks to Karma and has her secretly summon the rest of the New Mutants and they try to figure out what is going on. But then the whole landscape goes wild, and they are attacked by the Brood and other crazy monsters. Eventually she realizes that all of it is projections of her powers. She has Sam knock her out and all the problems disappear.

But why were her powers going wild like that? Hmmm... maybe we'll figure out soon. (Or really in the next Uncanny issue: it is because Xavier is being influenced by the Brood egg he has in him.)

X-Tra Notes: You know, for once, Xavier is being a massive asshole, but at least he has a real excuse. Also considering all she could do before were illusions, and it is all she can do for a while after this, this kind of shows how powerful her abilities ACTUALLY are when she has full grasp of them.
