Spider-Woman #37-38: You Should Not Let Your Teen Niece Go Out With That Deep V

And now for something completely different. We get a short little hop and skip over to the Spider-Woman comic to see she is sneaking into Fury's office on a Helicarrier just to get a "law enforcement recommendation" for her PI license. You know, I just want to see the look on the face of whoever is approving that when they see that it is a letter from Nick Fucking Fury.

After that and some quick Jessica Drew time for Spider-Woman, she has to head out to find the source of some kind of crazy scream she is hearing. Turns out it is Juggernaut, Black Tom, and the reason this set of issues is important: Theresa Cassidy, Black Tom's niece, and Banshee's daughter that he knows nothing about, are trying to rob the US of its entire vibranium supply to ransom back.

Also Black Tom is showing his terrible decision making skills as a parental figure. I mean, not by leading her into a life of crime. No, by deciding this is an A-Ok supervillain outfit for a teen girl.

Look, I'm not a prude, and I like to think I'm pretty sex positive, but generally the costume design for an under-18 girl shouldn't include "now tape yourself in".

Anyway, Spider-Woman fails to stop them, they get away, and she ends up framed for the theft for her trouble. She escapes the cops, heads back to her house to resume the housewarming party she ditched, and then Storm, Colossus, and Angel show up and tell her "Hey, we know you are Spider-Woman, we're X-Men, we detected a mutant in the area, you got any idea about that?"

Together they all manage to fly out and stop the villains, Black Tom has a change of heart about using his niece in his crimes, and clears both her and Spider-Woman to the authorities, claiming it was all him. He then tells the X-Men who Theresa is.

After this, Jessica enjoys her knew office as a PI.

X-Tra Notes: I'm a huge fan of Siryn, and I don't think I'd actually read her introduction before. I knew she had been raised by Black Tom and was a villain in her first appearance, but didn't realize it happened THIS fast.
