Uncanny X-Men #149: Kitty Pryde Cannot Be Allowed To Dress Herself

Xavier has decided that Magneto must be up to something, and the team needs to investigate. So he sends them off to the under-volcano lair in the Antarctic to see if they can figure anything out.

Let's ignore that literally nothing here should have survived but yeah. Anyway, before they can leave Kitty goes to show Professor X her "new costume" she designed herself which we are going to have a fashion review for in the end of this article.

Anyway she sneaks onto the Blackbird to be part of the mission (there is no way it makes sense that Wolverine and Xavier wouldn't have known she did it, but whatever). They explore the cave, discover that Magneto had returned and saved Garokk and placed him to guard the place.

In the end, Kitty's powers save them.

Also, back on the island, Magneto reveals to Cyclops that he knows who he is, and also, that he can take off the blindfold, as the island is blocking his powers.

X-Tra Notes: It would honestly not surprise me if the plan with this issue was "oh wait, we want the big important issue to be #150, let's make up some dumb bullshit. It is a pretty meh issue overall.

Bonus Fashion Review

There is no way even a 13 year old thought this looked good. Like, OK, I get the roller skates, as she is a Dazzler fan (but also, the roller skates while fighting thing was dumb in Dazzler, too, though at least she is primarily using it as part of her performance gimmick and is not actually trying to BE a superhero), but literally every other thing going on here is an abomination. The million clashing colors. The shiny gold bodysuit. The purple high pointy domino mask. Those socks that clearly inspired the nanny from the Muppet Babies. Though to be fair: It is acknowledged in the comic that this was awful and every other character makes fun of it.
